Cape Town – the World’s Best Holiday Spot 2023!

We are so excited to share that Cape Town has won the top spot in the UK Post Office Travel Money’s 17th annual Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer! Out of 40 destinations worldwide, the Mother City claimed first place as the best value for money holiday destination.

First place is calculated by comparing each country’s cost for 8 essential items that UK tourists need. This includes: a three-course meal for two with wine, a bottle of local beer, a glass of wine, a can of Coca-Cola, a large bottle of still water, a cup of coffee, sunscreen, and insect repellent. South Africa came out with two items as the cheapest, the three-course meal and the bottle of beer. The costs related to spending a holiday in South Africa dropped by 7.5%. In second place is last year’s winner, Marmaris, Turkey and in third is Sunny Beach, Bulgaria.
