Century City Has Its Very Own Tram!

On 1 July 2023 Century City welcomed its newest attraction – the Century City Tramway! The brand-new, 1920s-themed tram was locally designed and built by Keyser Locomotive Works. The gorgeous tram runs along the old Ratanga Junction Railway line and takes you through a beautiful ride of Century City. The starting point is Ratanga Park, although this might occasionally change depending on markets and local activities, and the ride is a round trip which finishes at the same location.

The tram operates every weekend and on public holidays between 11:00 and 17:00. She leaves every half hour, with the last trip starting at 16:30. The ride takes about 20 minutes and costs R70 per person. There is a family package of 10 rides available for R600, which makes this a perfect activity for the school holidays. No prior booking is required – simply buy your tickets at the boarding platform.

Well-socialised dogs are more than welcome, as long as they are with a responsible adult. Other experiences are also available, like school outings, sundowner cruises which last for 60 minutes, and photoshoots. Be sure to contact Century City Tramway beforehand for these experiences and keep an eye on their socials if the weather isn’t looking great, as they might close the tramway for safety reasons.
